  • Construction of a 27-story, 780,000 sq. ft. pavilion dedicated to advanced cancer care in tight urban site adjacent to MSK’s active flagship campus
  • Extensive demolition of existing residential buildings to clear the site
  • Integrated pedestrian bridges and tunnels will connect the Pavilion to MSK’s main campus for seamless operations

Located on York Avenue between East 66th and 67th Streets, the Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at MSKCC will be a new state-of-the-art cancer care facility built entirely within MSK’s existing footprint. This transformative 27-story, 780,000 sq. ft. structure is designed to address the cancer care challenges of the future, housing inpatient suites, state-of-the-art operating rooms, interventional radiology suites and robotics-integrated surgical suites. The Pavilion will also feature advanced technology, improved digital infrastructure, and resilient design strategies to ensure adaptability and energy efficiency.

The project began with extensive demolition of the Scholars and Sloan buildings to prepare the site. The Pavilion requires deep foundations and complex sequencing to deliver this high-rise patient tower in a dense urban setting. Construction activities include structural steel erection, installation of advanced M/E/P systems and various sustainable design elements. Extensive communication with neighboring residents and the community has been maintained throughout construction to streamline updates and minimize disruption. Once complete, the Pavilion will connect to Memorial Hospital via an enclosed two-story patient bridge spanning 67th Street, creating a critical link for moving patients, equipment, and staff between facilities. This integration, along with utilizing an existing service tunnel to ensure seamless operations across MSK’s campus while supporting its mission to expand access to world-class cancer care. The project is targeting LEED certification.

This project is a joint venture with Turner Construction.
