Project Overview
- Existing athletic building converted into classrooms, lecture halls and an activity center
- Construction was coordinated on an active college campus
Converted from an existing athletic building, the Kahn Discovery Center is a
state-of-the-art classroom building featuring 10 Internet-ready “smart” classrooms, six seminar rooms and two film studios with two sound stages, editing suites and a screening room. The facility is also used for general classes in public relations, journalism, film and electronic media.
A major component of the project included the installation of structural steel on the inside of an existing space to create a second floor. Additional work included exterior restoration of the red-brick façade as well as new mechanical and electrical systems.
