Project Overview

  • Accommodating requirements of multiple program needs and end-users in a single space
  • Achieved LEED Silver certification

UMass’ multi-purpose medical facility accomplishes the ambitious task of integrating medical education, clinical research and ambulatory patient care facilities under a single roof, in order to take advantage of collaborative opportunities and advance the quality of patient care. In this same vein, UMass opted for a design-build process to allow for a more unified approach between builder and architect.

The programs supported by the new facility include radiology (including PET/CT and CT scanning capabilities), oncology, orthopedics, Quantitative Health Services (QHS), as well as clinics for diabetes, endocrinology, pediatric diabetes and heart and vascular studies.

The owner also added 2,000 LF of underground campus Utility Loop System to the scope of this project adding $13 million in change order work, without causing any scheduling delays.
