Project Overview
- Achieved acoustical requirements of a high-end performance venue
- Performed invasive construction adjacent to the operational Forrestal-Bowld Music Center and in the heart of the occupied Phillips Exeter campus
- Detailed coordination required for curtain wall system and tie-in to the existing structure
To accommodate Phillips Exeter’s vibrant music program that has rapidly outgrew its existing space, the Academy elected to create a new, 12,000 sq. ft. addition to its Forrestal-Bowld Music Center. With more than 50 percent of Phillips Exeter’s students participating in music lessons and one quarter performing at the annual holiday concert, the new space is built to accommodate the current and future needs of this student body’s interest in the arts.
The striking curtain wall-faced addition houses a 250-seat recital and rehearsal hall, Harkness classroom, a music media and technology center, practice rooms and a musicianship studio.
