BOSTON, MA – The New England Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) honored Consigli Construction Co., Inc. (Consigli) with two Project Achievement Awards at an awards luncheon held in Boston yesterday for the firm’s work on the Boston Public Library, Central Library Renovation and Framingham State University’s new West Hall.

The CMAA New England Region Chapter holds its annual Project Achievement Awards to recognize exceptional achievement in the New England construction management community. The awards committee, composed of owners and professional construction managers, considers a broad mix of features – outcomes, overall management, safety, quality management, cost and schedule management, complexity, innovation, creativity and customer satisfaction – as the basis for the award.

Consigli was recognized in partnership with PMA Consultants LLC for project management of the Boston Public Library, Central Library renovation, located on Boylston Street in Boston’s Back Bay. The project received the Renovation/Modernization Project of the Year Award (Projects greater than $20 million category). Originally built as two buildings in 1895 and 1972, the 156,000-square-foot renovation of public floors transformed the inward-facing 1972 addition, designed by Philip Johnson, into an inviting, light-filled public space that welcomes all and extends the library into the newly defined public plaza. The renovation was funded by the City of Boston and designed by William Rawn Associates, Architects, Inc.

Consigli was also recognized with the New Construction Project of the Year Award (Projects less than $50 million category) for Framingham State University’s West Hall. The new 317-bed residence hall includes suite-style apartments, a grand entry staircase spanning two floors, game room, and media and study lounges. The brick-clad structure features interconnecting floors to create a community feel, and spans six stories on one end and five stories on the opposite end. The project owner is the Massachusetts State College Building Authority, the owner’s representative is Commercial Construction Consulting, Inc. (C3) and ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge was the designer.
