Berkshire Innovation Center (BIC) is a non-profit organization that was created to promote and accelerate the innovation and growth of existing life sciences supply chain and advanced manufacturing companies in Western Massachusetts. BIC assists private sector companies by enabling early-stage production and commercialization and by fostering shared research.
The new, two-story, 22,500 sq. ft. BIC includes four flexible training rooms; a 70-person auditorium; a wet lab; two ISO Class 7 and 8 clean rooms and an antechamber; a microscopy suite housing the Zeiss Axio Imager 2 microscopy platform; a rapid prototyping lab with 3D printing capabilities for plastics and metal; a 2,000 sq. ft. tech arena for larger, advanced equipment including the Hexagon Metrology “Beast” CMM with laser scanner, camera module, robotic “Romer Arm” and reverse engineering workstation; five conference rooms with high-end videoconferencing and collaboration equipment; shared incubator and accelerator space; and multi-purpose/events space. The BIC acts as a focal point for collaboration and networking, provides leadership and mentoring through the center’s alignment of private sector companies, research institutes and educational partners to accelerate technologies, innovation and the development of new businesses and a highly valued and skilled regional workforce.
