LAS VEGAS, NV – The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) has recognized Consigli with a Decorative Concrete Council First Place Award for the construction of Wellesley College’s Pendleton Hall West Addition at the 2019 World of Concrete convention in Las Vegas. The unique four-story, concrete cast-in-place addition of exposed “board-formed” architectural colored concrete was selected in the Vertical/Facades over 5,000 SF category.
The 10,000-square-foot addition unites two existing buildings on Wellesley College’s campus, making room for both visual and musical art, and incorporating classroom, studio, rehearsal and performance spaces. To create texture for the custom wall design, wooden boards were sandblasted and incorporated in an irregular pattern, and at varying depths. A combination of cast-in-place and precast concrete veneer on the exterior and all cast-in-place concrete on the interior walls feature this distinctive finish.
The Decorative Concrete Council, a specialty council of the American Society of Concrete Contractors, is dedicated to focusing on the issues, trends and work of the decorative concrete industry, and recognizes outstanding decorative concrete projects from around the world each year.
