PORTLAND, ME – Maine Preservation has recognized Consigli Construction Co., Inc. with a 2018 Maine Preservation Honor Award for its outstanding work to restore the L.L. Bean Home and Archive Center in Freeport, Maine. The award celebrates excellence in historic preservation leadership, rehabilitation and craft and acknowledges Consigli’s craftsmanship and engineering to repair the exterior and foundation of the building.
“This restoration represents a new landmark in Freeport and reflects the culture of craftsmanship that is inseparable from L.L. Bean, Consigli and the surrounding community,” said Matthew Tonello, Area Manager for Consigli Portland.
Only a short distance from the L.L. Bean company’s flagship store, the careful restoration of the Queen Ann Victorian style house, built in the late 1880’s provides a historically accurate glimpse into the Leon Bean family home, which now serves as a museum and archive center housing Bean’s original documents, photographs and possessions.
