Clark University created a significant expansion across Main Street with a new Student and Alumni Engagement Center that is an important extension of its presence in Worcester, both physically and visually. This striking design includes a new campus entry with a terrace and park that will create a continuous greenway into the campus.

The project scope included demolition of an existing parking lot and the removal of driving surfaces, site walls and excess soils for construction of the new, 35,000 sq. ft. academic building which provides flexible office and classroom space as well as a bookstore and café. The building consists of four occupied floors and a basement as well as a rooftop solar canopy. The project included site utility improvements, utility connections to Clark’s cogeneration plant and landscaping adjacent to the building, including a small open space area on Main Street. The building generates 50% of its power from the PV panels installed on the adjacent parking structure and has the potential to achieve zero-net-energy performance.
