Project Overview
- Installation of new M/E/P systems with existing building operating systems
- Coordination of safe and disruption-free construction operations amid an occupied facility located on a fully operational college campus
When the City University of New York (CUNY) launched an exciting, new economic development program called NYDesigns, it needed a space equally innovative to house the operation. On the campus of LaGuardia Community College, a former warehouse space was converted and fit-out to create an open, airy layout; complete mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgrades were also needed as well as exterior window replacements.
NYDesigns serves as a catalyst for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the design, fabrication, technology and maker spaces by providing flexible workspace and access to a network of mentors and advisors. In addition to other amenities such as conference rooms with multimedia capabilities and state-of-the-art business technology, companies in the incubator facility also have access to a 5,000 sq. ft. fabrication lab that can be used to prototype design ideas.
