The Saratoga Raceway and Casino–or racino, as it’s called–has more than 1,700 gambling machines and draws over two million yearly visitors, making it the most popular tourist attraction in the Capital Region. This new four-star hotel now competes favorably with other accommodations in the area, transitioning the racino into a complete destination casino. The 108-room hotel includes an indoor pool, fitness center, lobby bar, meeting rooms and coffee shop as well as guest amenities such as reception, circulation space and valet services. The destination hotel also includes a 5,000 sq. ft. Mortons Steakhouse with a supportive 3,500 sq. ft. kitchen.
Project scope included the expansion of infrastructure and electric services to support the increased volume of guest as well as all associated sitework. Construction took place on an active campus while maintaining necessary access to the practice track, barns, vehicle roads and pedestrian walkways. The project team took a creative approach to logistics planning such as the reconfiguration of the practice track and the development of handicap parking spaces to minimize impact on operations.
